Rookwood during the First Wizarding War

Augustus Rookwood was a British wizard, who would have attended Hogwarts like most young wizards. After school, he pursued a career within the Ministry of Magic, eventually becoming an Unspeakable in the Department of Mysteries.

However, at the same time, Rookwood also became a Death Eater and follower of Lord Voldemort. He used his position within the Ministry to pass sensitive information to Lord Voldemort during the First Wizarding War.

He also used his connections to get information from other wizards. For example, it is known that Ludo Bagman gave him some valuable information, probably ignorant that Rookwood was a Death Eater. He promised Bagman a position in the Ministry in exchange. At his trial, Bagman noted that Rookwood was a friend of his father and that he found “Old Rookwood” trustworthy.

After the First Wizarding War, Rookwood was captured when Igor Karkaroff gave up his name to get a better deal for himself. He was sent to Azkaban. Bagman’s trial would have followed, but he was found innocent, mostly due to his celebrity status as an international Quidditch player.

Rookwood during the Second Wizarding War

When Lord Voldemort returned, Rookwood was among the Death Eaters that escaped from Azkaban with Bellatrix Lestrange in 1996. He immediately returned to the Death Eater cause.

At this time, Lord Voldemort was very concerned with getting his hands on the prophecy about himself and Harry Potter. Rookwood’s background as an Unspeakable made him an asset. He seems to have led a number of attempts to steal the prophecy, but they all failed.

Eventually, Lord Voldemort lured Harry to the Department of Mysteries to retrieve the prophecy – you can only retrieve a prophecy if it is about you. Rookwood was among the Death Eaters who ambushed Harry and his friends there under the leadership of Lucius Malfoy.

He was one of the Death Eaters captured after this incident and sent back to Azkaban. But, with the Ministry under Death Eater control from 1997, he was easily able to escape again.

Rookwood then participated in the Battle of Hogwarts. He was chased by Percy Weasley after the death of Fred Weasley, and eventually incapacitated with a stunning spell by Aberforth Dumbledore. This suggests that he survived the battle, but no doubt found himself back in Azkaban.

Augustus Rookwood Personality Type & Traits

Rookwood is one of the Death Eaters who managed to maintain a pretext of respectability during the First Wizarding War. He was also able to obtain information from intelligent and high-ranking wizards. This suggests that he was a master manipulator, talented at pushing other people’s buttons.

Augustus Rookwood Zodiac Sign & Birthday

We do not know when Rookwood was born, but it must have been pre-1960 for him to be involved in both Wizarding Wars. Probably well before this date if he was a friend of Ludo Bagman’s father.

His personality suggests that his zodiac sign may be Scorpio. People born under this sign are good at reading other people and manipulating them. They are also ruthless when it comes to getting what they want.
