The manga was serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen magazine, Weekly Shōnen Jump, and would sell 29.5 million copies later on. Moreover, it topped the rank of “Top-Selling Manga in Japan by Volume in the year 2021.”

Demon Slayer was illustrated and written by a Japanese mangaka artist, referred to by his pen name Koyoharu Gotouge. He was featured in Time100 Next 2021. 

The animated version of Kimetsu no Yaiba was animated by Studio Ufotable, and was directed by Haruo Sotozaki, and produced by Hikaru Kondo.

Demon Slayer follows the life of a coal burner named Kamado Tanjiro, a responsible older brother to five younger siblings. His keen sense of smell is very handy in his line of work.

Season 1 features Tanjiro Kamado, going down from the mountains to burn coal in a small nearby village. 

Tanjiro took over as the man of the house when their father, Tanjuro Kamado, fell ill and passed away. 

Tanjiro was making his daily rounds of going down from the mountains to work when a powerful demon came to his house. The demon violently murdered his family in cold blood. 

Tanjiro, who came home to the massacred state of his family, was devastated. However, his sister Nezuko was still alive.

Feeling hopeful, he carried his barely surviving sister to get her treated, only to discover that she had turned into a demon along the way.

NOTE: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train has a series consisting of 7 episodes dedicated to recapping the events that took place in the movie. 

The only difference between the series and the movie is that the series is more detailed. This helped expound the events that were not featured in the movie.

Is There a Season 3 for Demon Slayer?

Ufotable, the studio in charge of animating the Demon Slayer series, and Crunchyroll announced in early 2022 that Kimetsu no Yaiba has a season 3. 

However, no official release date has yet to be disclosed.
