Dyes are an excellent source of adding a bit of livelihood to your survival world. They can help you have that extra pizazz to your overall decor. There are a bunch of different color options when picking Dyes to create, and it’s difficult to remember the recipes for each one.
Don’t worry on that front, though, since today we’ll be covering everything you need to know about getting your hands on a Green Dye in Minecraft 1.20!
How to Get Green Dye in Minecraft 1.20
Smelting a Cactus using a Furnace creates a Green Dye in Minecraft 1.20. Each Cactus smelted in this way yields 1 Green dye and an Experience Point. Green Dye can also be found in Chests located within Village Houses or traded with Wandering Traders.
In a nutshell, you have 3 main avenues of obtaining Green Dye – Smelting, Chests, and Trading. The last 2 options have a relatively smaller chance of netting you the desired Dye, so we’ll get them out of the way quickly. To be more precise, each Chest found inside a Villagers’ house has a 14.3% chance of containing a Green Dye.
Additionally, the Dye can also be obtained from trading. Wandering Trader Villagers offer to exchange 3 Green Dyes for 1 Emerald each. Although this is a pretty terrible trade, you can still go ahead with it if you’d like.
Smelting Cactus to Get Green Dye
Your primary and most convenient method of obtaining Green Dye in Minecraft 1.20 is through Smelting Cactus.
Cactus is a widespread Plant block that can easily be located in Desert biomes. It naturally grows here in generous amounts. Generally, any decently-sized Desert area should contain enough Cactus blocks to cover all your needs.
Once you have the Cactus, you can move on to smelting the Green Dye. As with all other smelting processes, you’ll need access to a Furnace and some fuel material (such as Wood or Coal).
After obtaining the materials mentioned above, follow these steps to create the Green Dye:
- Interact with the Furnace to open up the Smelting Menu
- Add fuel items such as Wood/Coal in the bottom slot of the menu
- Insert the Cactus in the top slot of the menu
- Collect the Green Dye from the right-most slot of the Furnace
And that covers everything you need to know to create Green Dye in Minecraft 1.20. Be sure to tell us in the comments how you plan on using your newly obtained Dye!
