How to Get Invisible Item Frames in Minecraft 1.20 (2023)

Making your base look exquisite is just as important as selecting the right terrain and area to build it. After all, what’s the point of having a home if it doesn’t feel like one! To tidy up your new space and make it look more aesthetic you can use some Invisible Item Frames.

However, getting access to these can be difficult since they can’t be crafted or found naturally in a Survival world. Don’t worry though; today we’ll be covering everything you need to know about getting your hands on Invisible Item Frames in Minecraft 1.20!

How to Get Invisible Item Frames in Minecraft?

You can get an Invisible Item Frame by entering the command “/give @s item_frame{EntityTag:{Invisible:1}}” in the chat console of Minecraft. Entering the command places the Item Frame in your inventory. This method only works on the Java Edition of the game.

If you want to use an Invisible Item Frame, you have no option but to use the console command mentioned above. The Item Frames you can craft or find naturally available in the world are either ordinary ones or Glowing Item Frames.

Having to use the chat console naturally means that Invisible Item Frames are only available to players of the Java Edition. Thus, players on console or Bedrock Edition won’t be able to use these!

Step-by-Step Guide to Obtain Invisible Item Frames

Java Edition players can either use the console command to obtain the Invisible Item Frame or download additional resource packs. The latter option is lengthy and requires external resources, so we’d highly recommend using the console command option! Here’s how you can do that:

Complete Console Command for obtaining an Invisible Item Frame
  • Before launching your Minecraft world, ensure that the ‘Cheats’ option is enabled
  • Launch your Minecraft world
  • Open the console chat by pressing “/
  • Type in or copy the following command “/give @s item_frame{EntityTag:{Invisible:1}}”
  • The Item Frame will be added to your inventory

Note: Ensure that you don’t use two backslashes when going through steps 3 and 4. The “/” you use for step 3 needs to be removed before copy pasting the command in step 4. You may refer to the image shown above to understand how the command is to be entered.

Remember that obtaining an Invisible Item Frame using this method requires that ‘Cheats’ be enabled in your Minecraft world. Additionally, you can also use the console command to give the Invisible Item Frame to other players in your world as well! To do this, you have to slightly edit the command by changing the letter in front of the “@”. The letter you swap it with depends upon whether you want to give the Item Frame to another player, a random player, or all players within your server.

The following table summarizes all possible variants of the command and also explains their effect!

/give @s item_frame{EntityTag:{Invisible:1}}The Item Frame is given to you
