Among the huge collection of mobs offered within Minecraft 1.20 Trails & Tales – Axolotl’s are some of the most adorable creatures around.
Added to the game in version 1.17, these passive, underwater mobs spawn in 5 different color variations. Today, however, we’ll only be focusing on the rarest color variant (Blue) and everything you need to know to get your hands on one of them!
How Can You Get Blue Axolotls in Minecraft?
Blue Axolotls can be obtained through breeding in Minecraft 1.20 Trails & Tales. There is a 0.083% chance (1 in 1,200) for a Blue Axolotl to spawn when two adult Axolotls are bred. This chance increases to 99.9% if both the adult Axolotls are also blue.
As we’ve explained, the only natural way of obtaining Blue Axolotls in survival is through breeding.
There is however, one primary factor that dictates how quickly you’ll get a baby Blue Axolotl – the color of their parents. Baby Axolotls have a 99.917% chance of matching the color of their parents.
As such, if both the parent Axolotls that you intend to breed are of the blue variant – you’ll be able to get another Blue Axolotl almost immediately.
If either of the parents are blue – you’ll still have a high chance of obtaining the blue baby Axolotl since the proportion will simply be divided between the two parents.
However, if both of the parents don’t feature the rare blue color – you’re in for a tough ride. In this case, you’ll have a 1 in 1,200 chance of obtaining a baby Blue Axolotl through breeding! Here’s a detailed, step-by-step guide on how you can breed Axolotls in Minecraft 1.20 Trails & Tales.
Although breeding is the only ‘official’ method of obtaining the Blue Axolotl, you can still cheat your way through to get your hands on one of them.
Using Console Command
Not wanting to breed Axolotls 1,200 times just to see that lucky blue color is completely understandable – and that’s where console commands come in! You can immediately spawn a Blue Axolotl by entering a command in the in-game console. Here’s how you can do so:
- Press the “/” key to open the console command box.
- Type in or copy/paste the following command “/summon minecraft:axolotl ~ ~ ~ {Variant:4}”.
- Press Enter.
