Some of the characters in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba have had their ages confirmed by the creators.
However, when it comes to the demon characters, it is hard to tell exactly how old they are.
At the beginning of season 1, Tanjiro Kamado is 13 years old but during a 2-year time skip between episodes 2 and 3, Tanjiro turns 15.
Likewise, his younger sister Nezuko was 12 but is 14 by season 1, episode 3.
Zen’itsu Agatsuma is slightly older than Tanjiro at 16. Inosuke Hashibira is 15, the same as Tanjiro.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is soon to be 3 seasons (and a movie) full of unique characters who are so highly skilled, it is easy to forget how young they are.

Tanjiro Kamado – July 14th
Tanjiro Kamado was born on July 14th and is 13 years old for the first few episodes of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. However, there is a 2-year time skip between episodes 2 and 3 of season 1, making Tanjiro 15 from episode 3 onwards.
When Tanjiro’s mother is killed by demons and his younger sister (Nezuko) is turned into a demon herself, Tanjiro is determined to find a cure for his sister.
His tough determination drives him to be a strong member of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Nezuko Kamado – December 28th
Nezuko Kamado was only 12 years old when she was turned into a demon. By episode 3 of season 1, she is 14 years old.
Demons do not physically age, which means that Nezuko gets stuck in the body of a 12 year old from the very beginning of season 1.
However, Nezuko’s sweet and youthful look is quickly varnished the minute anyone threatens her older brother, Tanjiro.
Zen’itsu Agatsuma – September 3rd
Zen’itsu Agatsuma is 16 years old, a year older than Tanjiro.
Physically, Zen’itsu is very strong and could easily take many of the other Demon Slayer Corps members in a fight. But he is a big wimp, preferring to run from a threat rather than fight it.
Still, he is a valued member of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Inosuke Hashibira – April 22nd
Inosuke Hashibira is the same age as Tanjiro – 15 years old. He lacks the social skills that most 15 years olds have because he was raised by boars in the wild, so he can often seem much younger than he is.
Not only will Inosuke pick a fight with anyone who looks at him the wrong way, but his ability to contort his body into any shape he needs means that he will most likely win. However, he is such a skilled swordsman that he doesn’t need to use his unique abilities half of the time.
Kanao Tsuyuri – May 19th
Kanao Tsuyuri is 16 years old but has been through a lot in her 16 years. Her tragic back story made her very closed off and unwilling to share her emotions.
As the series progresses, she does begin to open up to her fellow Demon Slayer Corps members but tends to stay out of big decisions, so she doesn’t get emotionally attached.
Gen’ya Shinazugawa – January 7th
He may look older, but Gen’ya Shinazugawa is only 16 years old.
Gen’ya is 5’11” (180.3 cm), a height that makes him seem more intimidating and older than his Demon Slayer Corps friends.
He is quick to anger in the 1st season of the show but mellows out by the 3rd. His relationship with his older brother (Sanemi) remains turbulent.
Sanemi Shinazugawa – November 9th
Sanemi Shinazugawa is 21, 5 years older than his younger brother Gen’ya, and one of the oldest members of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Sanemi is the Wind Hashira but is not like many of the other Hashiras. He is very aggressive with a physical appearance to match.
At first, we are led to believe that this aggression is what made Sanemi kill his and Gen’ya’s mother, but we soon learn that it was an act of protection. Still, this doesn’t fix the brother’s fraught relationship.
Giyu Tomioka – February 8th
In the first few episodes of season 1, Giyu Tomioka is 19. Then when we meet him again in episode 15 of season 1, he is 21. He is one of the few characters that we meet before the 2 year time skip between episodes 2 and 3.
Like Sanemi, Giyu is one of the older Demon Slayer Corps members. He handles his emotions a lot better than Sanemi, almost too well.
Giyu is the Water Hashira but lacks confidence in his abilities, so he is a lot more guarded and quiet than the other Hashiras.
Shinobu Kocho – February 24th
At 18 years old, Shinobu Kocho may seem cute and friendly at first but she has learned how to curb her words to pierce others where it hurts.
She is 2 years older than Tanjiro but has a far more developed hatred for demons as they killed her sister. This hatred has made her very vicious with her words, tearing others down with a sweet smile on her face.
Shinobu is the Insect Hashira and is extremely skilled despite being younger than many of the other Hashiras.
Tengen Uzui – October 31st
Tengen Uzui is 23 years old, making him one of the oldest main supporting characters in Demon Slayer.
With his extra years comes a lot of bad experiences that we get to explore as the show goes on. His father tricked Tegen into killing his own siblings, making him reconsider his situation and escape his father’s grasp.
For a few years, Tegen was part of the Demon Slayer Corps acting as the Sound Hashira. Though he is no longer the Sound Hashira, he still plays an important role in the show.
Mitsuri Kanroji – June 1st
Mitsuri Kanroji is 19 years old and is the unforgettable Love Hashira.
Her entire appearance is far louder than most of the other Hashiras with bright pink hair and luminescent green eyes. Compared to most of the other Hashiras, she looks far younger than she is.
Many fans were instantly enamored when Mitsuri first showed up and she has remained a fan favorite since.
Obanai Iguro – September 15th
At 21 years old, Obanai Iguro is the perfect example of an average Hashira – though it is hard for a Hashira to be average compared to other human characters.
He is the Serpent Hashira and is just as dark, mysterious, and weird as his title would suggest. As a Hashira he has incredible powers.
Senjurō Rengoku – April 27th
Senjurō Rengoku is 12 in season 1, making him one of the youngest characters on the show, even younger than Nezuko.
Despite coming from a long line of Fire Hashiras, Senjurō lacks any real skill. Still, this does not stop him from trying to pursue a similar path as his older brother Kyojuro, even if he does eventually fail.
Muichiro Tokito – August 8th
Muichiro Tokito is the youngest Hashira at 14 years old. Though he is very powerful as the Mist Hashira, his social skills are left to be desired.
After facing a traumatic event before the 1st series of Demon Slayer, Muchiro was left with no memories of either his life or how to show emotion, hence why he seems more aloof than other characters.
Gyumei Himejima – August 23rd
At 27 years old, Gyumei Himejima is the most senior acting Hashira. He is the stone Hashira and has a substantial height of 7’2″ (218.4 cm) to match his intimidating strength.
He is a dedicated member of the Demon Slayer Corps though he is not quick to trust. More reserved than other Demon Slayer Corps characters, Gyumei is a quiet, solid force to be reckoned with.
Kyojuro Rengoku – May 10th
Kyojuro Rengoku is 20 years old and is a fresh change of pace to the doom and gloom of the Demon Slayer Corps, acting as the Fire Hashira (if you couldn’t already tell from his hair).
He is more of a side character in the main Demon Slayer anime series but plays a big part in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Movie – Mugen Train. However, his charms and charisma allow some relief from the tragic history of most of the other main characters in the main series.
Kyojuro is a genuinely good guy, working to make the best of the worst situations.
Only 13 years old, little is known about Sabito. But what is clear from his time training Tanjiro is that he is a very skilled, extremely tough teacher.
At first, he does not hold much hope for Tanjiro, though he eventually changes his mind.
Sabito is killed fairly early on in the series during the Hashira Training arc.
It is unclear exactly how old Muzan Kibutusji is, only that he is more than 10,000 years old. This makes him the oldest demon of the whole series.
Muzan is set up as the perfect bad guy. He is cold, calculated, and ruthless. When he is first introduced in season 1, it is unclear whether Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps will be able to defeat such a powerful enemy. But there is hope yet!
Tamayo – July 2nd
Tamayo is approximately 500 years old and is the only demon whose birthday has been confirmed by the Demon Slayer creators: July 2nd.
Created by Muzan and acting as his assistant for hundreds of years, Tamayo is a mighty demon. After the creation of the Twelve Kizuki, Tamayo revolts against Muzan and tries to kill him.
She is unsuccessful, so Tamayo then goes on to become a skilled pharmacist, using her powers for healing purposes.
Yushirō Yamamoto is roughly 35 years old, considerably younger than all of the other demons in Demon Slayer.
His story differs slightly from other demons as he was created by Tamayo, not Muzan. This works in Yushirō’s favor as Muzan is unable to control him, allowing Yushirō to offer an advantage to the Demon Slayer Corps.
Yushirō proves himself to be one of the good guys after reviving Tanjiro from near-death and finding a way to survive on as little human blood as possible.
Aoi Kazaki is 16 years old, which is an average age for one of the newer Demon Slayer Corps members. But she is not as strong as Tanjiro or his friends.
Her lack of skill knocked Aoi’s confidence when she completed her Final Selection. So even though she did complete the selection and is strong in her own way, she stays out of fights and works at the Butterfly Mansion instead.
Akaza is thought to be roughly 200 years old, if not older.
He was one of the main characters to be introduced in the Demon Slayer movie and left a lasting impression after his fight with Kyojuro Rengoku.
At an estimated 113+ years old, Daki is one of the younger demons featured in the series. Still, this doesn’t mean she is any less villainous.
Unlike Azaka and Muzan, her cruelty is derived from a place of insecurity rather than being simply evil. She is constantly seeking the praise and affection of Muzan.
Azaka was turned into a demon by her older brother Gyutaro as a way to prevent her from dying after being burnt alive.
Gyutaro is a fair few years older than Azaka at 126+ years old. He plays the caring, coddling older brother but is very standoffish with anybody else.
Out of all of the demons, Gyutaro definitely looks the most terrifying with a horrific body that reflects his gruesome fighting style.
Kagaya Ubuyashiki is 23 years old, but it is unclear when she was born.
What is clear is that the Ubuyashiki family is a powerful force with the skill of foresight. Kagaya herself is able to calm people down with just the sound of her voice and makes several predictions that come true.
Sakonji Urokodaki is 52 years old, the oldest featured human character in Demon Slayer. He is old enough to have once been the Water Hashira, served his time, and then retired, passing the title off to Giyu.
Though retired, Sakonji still taps into his Hashira powers by acting as the main water breathing teacher.
