So far in the series, Naruto has been drastically nerfed after losing the Nine-tails fox (Kurama) in his fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki.
Boruto, on the other hand, has been significantly buffed, with god-tier abilities such as the Jougan and Karma. With such a clear distinction, fans can’t help but wonder if Boruto is now stronger than Naruto.
Boruto isn’t quite as strong as Naruto yet, but he has a good chance of surpassing him. Boruto is still in the early stages of his Ninja path and has a lot to learn. While the Jougan and Karma seal are God-tier abilities, Boruto lacks the necessary experience and chakra reserves to exploit their potential fully.
However, as Boruto matures and better understands his abilities, we can expect him to surpass Naruto in the early future.

7 Reasons Why Boruto Will Get Stronger Than Naruto
Boruto Uzumaki is a formidable shinobi who has shown traits of surpassing Naruto. Here are possibilities to consider:
1. Boruto Far Surpassed Naruto at Age 12
Boruto has accomplished a great deal at age 12, surpassing Sasuke and Naruto (at that age). While Naruto was still striving to master wind nature, he was able to master three changes in chakra nature, utilizing lightning, wind, and water release jutsu.
Given how spectacular his nature transformation ninjutsu is at such a young age, it’s only natural that these talents will continue to develop. This grants him a head start that Naruto lacked.
Boruto once again demonstrated his strength by summoning and taming Garaga at a time when Naruto could only summon a tadpole. He was able to summon and tame Garaga, a powerful snake of Ryuchi cave who openly hates humankind.
Boruto mastered the Rasengan in three days, and in a 30-second montage, he figured out a method to add wind style with no effort. Naruto, on the hand, had to enlist the help of a Shadow clone and train for weeks before he could add the wind technique.
Still, at age 12, Boruto battled God-tier enemies and managed to win in every battle. Given Boruto’s strengths and natural talent at such a young age, we can confidently say Boruto will easily surpass both Naruto and Sasuke in the future, although he isn’t there yet.
2. Boruto Has a Strong Connection to the Otsutsuki Clan
Boruto shares a strong connection with the Otsutsuki clan as he is related to Kaguya from both sides of his family. His mother, Hinata, is a direct descendant of Hamura Otsutsuki.
While Naruto, his father, possesses the chakra of Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Sharing the chakra of two of the strongest beings in the series proves that Boruto will eventually surpass Naruto.

3. Boruto Has the Jougan Dojutsu

The Jougan is a unique dojutsu exclusive to only Boruto. While the scope of the Jougan’s abilities is still a mystery, we do know that it is powerful enough to rival the Otsutsuki, putting it on the level with the Rinnegan and other top-tier dojutsu.
The Jougan has limitless potential to become the series’ strongest dojutsu. With this type of power, it’s only logical to expect him to surpass Naruto in the early future.
4. Boruto Has the Karma Seal

The Karma seal is a rare power bestowed upon select individuals by members of the Otsutsuki Clan. The karma seal is the Otsutsuki method of choosing a new vessel to be reincarnated. Boruto has special compatibility with the mark, which allows him to develop it more quickly.
The karma seal amplifies base stats such as ninjutsu, taijutsu, physical strength, and speed. It also grants Boruto the ability to absorb ninjutsu and create dimensional gateways, among other astonishing abilities.
5. The Time Skip Boruto is Strong

We got a glimpse of how strong the time skip Boruto will be in the first episode of the series. Boruto has matured and can now utilize the Jougan and karma seal to its fullest, making him incredibly strong.
This event validates our theory that Boruto will eventually surpass Naruto.
6. Toneri and Urashik’s Prophecy

Toneri prophesied that Boruto would shoulder the world’s fate and rise to the peak of power above the shinobi and the Otsutsuki with the power of the Jougan. According to Urashiki Otsutsuki, he stated Boruto would become a threat to the Otsutsuki clan in the future.
7. Boruto is Sasuke’s Student
Sasuke’s guidance greatly aids Boruto’s ability to grow his power. There is no better teacher to inspire him to surpass Naruto than Naruto’s all-time rival (Sasuke).

Is Boruto Stronger than Naruto Without Kurama?
Boruto doesn’t stand a chance against Naruto even after losing Kurama. While Boruto possesses the Jougan and the karma seal, he lacks the necessary experience to exploit their potential fully.
Naruto, however, after losing Kurama, still has access to the sage mode, the six paths chakra, and the chakra to other tailed beasts. Together with his battle experience, chakra reserve, speed, durability, and destructive capability, these powers are enough to give Boruto a good thrashing!
Why Is Naruto Weak in Boruto?
The series’ ultimate goal is for the new generation to surpass the old. To do so, old characters must be nerfed or killed, which is one of the reasons Naruto and other old characters are getting nerfed drastically.
