How to Make a Potion of Invisibility in Minecraft 1.20?

Combining a Potion of Night Vision with a Fermented Spider Eye on a Brewing Stand creates a Potion of Invisibility in Minecraft 1.20. The ordinary variant of this potion may also be converted into an Extended Potion of Invisibility using Redstone Dust.

The Brewing Process

Crafting Pattern for an Ordinary Potion of Invisibility

After obtaining the materials mentioned above, follow these steps to brew your Potion of Invisibility!

  • Interact with the Brewing Stand to open up its menu.
  • Place some Blaze Powder in the left-most slot to charge up the stand.
  • Insert a Fermented Spider Eye in the top-most slot at the right side of the Brewing Menu.
  • Add in a Potion of Night Vision in any of the three slots on the right side of the Brewing Menu. (You may place them in all 3 slots as well)
  • Wait for the Brewing process to complete, and collect the resulting Potion of Invisibility!

To make the ordinary potion throwable and thus, use it as a projectile, you can convert it into a ‘Splash” Potion of Invisibility. This requires the use of an additional ingredient – Gunpowder.

Once you have the Gunpowder, follow these steps:

  • Create an ordinary Potion of Invisibility (refer to the steps mentioned above).
  • Add a Gunpowder to the top-most slot at the right side of the Brewing Menu.
  • Wait for the Brewing process to complete, and collect the resulting Splash Potion of Invisibility!

How to Make a Lingering Potion of Invisibility in Minecraft 1.20?

The effect from the Splash potion of Invisibility can further be enhanced to have a circular AOE (Area of Effect). In order to achieve this, you’ll need to obtain some ‘Dragon’s Breath’. The resulting potion from this combination is called a ‘Lingering’ Potion of Invisibility.

Once you have the required materials, follow these steps to create the Lingering version of the potion:

  • Create a Splash Potion of Invisibility (refer to the steps mentioned above).
  • Insert a Dragon’s Breath in the top-most slot at the right side of the Brewing Menu.
  • Wait for the Brewing process to complete, and collect the resulting Lingering Potion of Invisibility.

How to Make an Extended Potion of Invisibility in Minecraft 1.20?

Crafting Pattern for an Extended Potion of Invisibility

The ordinary Potion of Invisibility grants you the Invisibility perk for a mere 3 minutes. The duration of this potion can be increased to last 8 whole minutes by converting it into an Extended Potion of Invisibility.

Doing so requires the use of Redstone Dust as an ingredient. Once you have the dust, follow these steps to create the extended variant:

  • Create an ordinary or Splash Potion of Invisibility (refer to the steps mentioned above).
  • Insert Redstone Dust to the top-most slot at the right side of the Brewing Menu.
  • Wait for the Brewing process to complete, and collect the resulting Extended Potion of Invisibility!

We’ve now covered everything you need to know about the entire creation process of a Potion of Invisibility as well as its different variants. If you’re having trouble collecting the ingredients for this potion, keep reading the guide for some tips!

Collecting the Ingredients for a Potion of Invisibility Vision

After creating a Brewing Stand and collecting Blaze Powder for fuel, you’ll need some additional resources to craft a Potion of Invisibility. At the minimum, you’ll need a Potion of Night Vision and a Fermented Spider Eye to be used as ingredients.

This post covers the entire creation process for a Potion of Night Vision.

Fermented Spider Eye

Crafting Pattern for a Fermented Spider Eye

You can craft a Fermented Spider Eye using 1x Brown Mushroom, 1x Sugar, and 1x Spider Eye. These ingredients aren’t too rare and can be found through some exploration.

Firstly, Brown Mushrooms can commonly be found in poorly lit areas (having light levels less than 12). Each chunk has a 25% chance of generating a Brown Mushroom in such places! Additionally, you can find tons of them naturally generating all portions of the Nether.

Swamps, Old Growth Taigas, and Mushroom Field biomes have a significantly increased chance of featuring these – so be on the lookout. These Mushrooms can also be obtained by mining Mushroom Trees – but those can be rare.

Secondly, Sugar is a very common crafting material that is most easily obtained using Sugarcanes. You can find these scattered all across the Overworld, spawning near water bodies. You can convert each Sugarcane you collect into one piece of Sugar.

The last crafting ingredient, Spider Eye, is collected by slaying Spider mobs. Each Spider or Cave Spider killed has a 33% chance of dropping a Spider Eye. Thus, the quickest way to obtain these would be to venture deep into a cave and wreak havoc on some unsuspecting Spiders! Witches can also drop anywhere between 0 and 6 Spider Eyes when killed.
