Millicent Bulstrode was a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Slytherin House. We are specifically told by J.K. Rowling that she is a half-blood witch, despite being a member of the Bulstrode family, one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight pure blood families.

She was nevertheless selected for Slytherin House and was probably well connected. She is likely closely related to Violetta Bulstrode, who married Cygnus Black II.

We are told that Millicent is a large and formidable girl, already quite a bit bigger than Harry Potter in her second year. She is described by Ron as ugly, and Harry says that she resembles a hag. There was significant animosity between Millicent and Harry and his friends.

Millicent attended the duelling club in her second year. Professor Snape paired Millicent and Hermione for duelling pratice. The two ended up in a physical altercation, despite this being against the rules of duelling, and Millicent pit Hermione in a headlock. Harry had to pull Millicent off Hermione. This was hard, because she was so much bigger than her.

Hermione found some hairs that she assumed to be Millicent’s on her robes after the altercation. She decided to use these to turn herself into Millicent using Polyjuice Potion, when Harry and Ron turned into Crabbe and Goyle. Their plan was to infiltrate the Slytherin common room and learn what Draco knew about the heir of Slytherin.

However, it turns out the hairs that Hermione collected were not from Millicent, but rather her cat. This caused a nasty accident as Polyjuice potion is not meant for inter-species transformation. Hermione spent some considerable time in the hospital wing.

Millicent Bulstrode & the Inquisitorial Squad

We next hear about Millicent in her fifth year, when she joins the Inquisitorial Squad put together by Dolores Umbridge to police the school. She joined many of her fellow Slytherins on the squad. She was part of the group that apprehended Harry and his friends as they used Floo Powder and the fireplace in Professor’s Umbridge’s office to try and determine the status of Sirius Black.

Millicent sat on Hermione and held her down. She was later incapacitated by members of the DA in the office. They went on to infiltrate the Department of Mysteries in the Ministry of Magic and fight the Death Eaters there.

Presumably Millicent returned to Hogwarts in her sixth and seventh years. We do not know what she thought of classmate Draco Malfoy becoming a Death Eater. We also do not know what side she would have taken at the Battle of Hogwarts. All Slytherin students were escorted off the premises. It is not known what happened to her after school.

Millicent Bulstrode Personality Type & Traits

Millicent is portrayed as a bully who uses her size and strength to intimidate others. She also joined the Inquisitor Squad, which would give her an opportunity to bully others officially. But as is the case with many bullies, she was probably bullied herself. She is often described by fellow students as being big and ugly and was probably victimized for this.

Millicent Bulstrode Zodiac Sign & Birthday

We do not know Millicent Bulstrode’s birthday, and therefore we also do not know her Zodiac sign. However, fans suggest that she might be an Aries. People born under Aries tend to be very focussed on their own thoughts and feelings, so they need to work a bit harder to form deep friendships. They also have hot, violent tempers.

Millicent Bulstrode Family Tree

It is interesting that J.K. Rowling specifically tells us that Millicent is a half-blood witch. The Mulstrode is one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight pure-blood families that mostly married between themselves to maintain their bloodlines.

We know that Millicent’s relative Violetta married Cygnus Black II. Through her Millicent was related to the Blacks, Lestranges, Malfoys, and the Potters.

That Millicent has one Muggle-born parent or grandparent seems to be exceptional within the Bulstode family. Nevertheless, the sorting hat placed Millicent in Slytherin house. Slytherin could no longer afford to choose only pure blood students as there were so few left.
