Nagini Biography

Nagini was a human witch from Indonesia, but she was cursed with the ability to turn into a snake. This was a curse, as one day, she would become trapped in her snake form.

Trying to make a life for herself, she joined the Circus Arcanus as an attraction, but she was maltreated by the owner Skender along with the other performers.

In 1927, Credence Barebone joined the circus in order to be able to travel to Europe, and the two became friends. They eventually escaped the circus together.

Nagini stayed with Credence while he was on the run from various people wanting to destroy or exploit him due to his status as an Obscurial. She also helped him on his quest to learn his true identity.

Nagini was with Credence when she learned that he could not be Corvus Lestrange and when Gellert Grindelwald tried to recruit him by promising to tell him his true identity.

Despite her trying to convince him not to, Credence went with Grindelwald, leaving Nagini with Theseus and Newt Scamander.

It is unknown when Nagini made her final transformation and became forever stuck in her snake form.

Nagini and Lord Voldemort

Lord Voldemort seems to have met Nagini while he was in his weakened form following his first attack on Harry Potter. He lived in the forests of Albania and presumably met her there.

During this time, he would sometimes take control of animals such as snakes. He may have taken control of Nagini or met her while using another snake and discovered that she was special. He decided to keep her close.

When Peter Pettigrew found Lord Voldemort and brought him back to England to restore him, Nagini accompanied them. Pettigrew was forced to milk Nagini for an ingredient in the potion that sustained Lord Voldemort in his weakened form.

When Lord Voldemort killed Bertha Jorkins in 1994, he also turned Nagini into a Horcrux, sealing the close relationship between the two of them.

Nagini seemed to have lost the human compassion that she displayed when she was with Credence. Lord Voldemort often promised to feed his victims to Nagini.

While he sometimes seems to have taken control of her body, she also seems to have willing helped the dark lord. But Lord Voldemort seems to have been inhabiting Nagini’s body when she attacked Arthur Weasley around Christmas 1995.

Harry Potter saw these events through his connection with Lord Voldemort, and he said that it seemed as though he was the snake. Her venom prevented Arthur’s blood from clotting, making it impossible to heal, but the healers did eventually find an antidote.

Nagini Possess Bathilda Bagshot

When Lord Voldemort killed Bathilda Bagshot, he placed Nagini within her body so that she could wait at Godric’s Hollow and alert him when Harry Potter turned up.

When they did arrive, she was able to see through their disguise and lured them back to Bathilda Bagshot’s house. She was clearly sentient as the dark lord did not automatically know that they were there, and she had to actively alert him.

Nagini chose not to speak in front of Hermione and spoke only to Harry, who could understand her serpent tongue because he was a parseltongue.

She then bit Harry and curled herself around him to hold him in place. But Hermione burst in and managed to free Harry by blowing up the room. The two escaped before Lord Voldemort arrived.

Nagini and the Battle of Hogwarts

By the time of the Battle of Hogwarts, Lord Voldemort had realized that Harry was hunting his Horcruxes, so he kept Nagini close and safe in a protective magical cage.

He took Nagini with him when he went to meet and kill Severus Snape to try and gain control of the Elder Wand. He used Nagini to kill him, letting her attack the former Death Eater by expanding her cage around him.

The two left while Snape was still dying, allowing Snape to share some important memories with Harry Potter before he died.

When Lord Voldemort thought that he had killed Harry, he released Nagini from her cage, assuming that the threat was over.

He did not know that both Ron and Hermione knew that Nagini was a Horcrux and that Harry had told Neville Longbottom that the snake would have to be killed to make Lord Voldemort vulnerable.

As a result, when Neville pulled Gryffindor’s sword from the Sorting Hat, he went straight for Nagini, killing her with the magical sword. This left Lord Voldemort mortal, paving the way for his defeat.

Nagini Personality Type & Traits

As a human, Nagini seems to have been timid but kind. She needed Credence to give her the strength to escape the circus, but in return, she loved him and supported him unconditionally.

When she became stuck in her snake form, she seems to have lost her humanity. While she still had some of the higher brain functions of a human, she was driven by the instincts of a snake.

Nagini Zodiac Sign & Birthday

Nagini must have been born before 1927 when she was working in the Circus Arcana. Her personality suggests that her zodiac sign could be Cancer. People born under this sign often need external forces to push them to make difficult decisions, but they are also generous, loving, and empathetic.
