Padma Patil Early Life

Parvati was born into the Patil family in 1979/80 along with her identical twin Parvati. She seems to have come from a wizarding family, as Parvati was already familiar with Pansy Parkinson before arriving at Hogwarts.

When she started at school, Padma was sorted into Ravenclaw House, while her twin sister was sent to Gryffindor. Padma would have shared a dormitory with Mandy Brocklehurst, Lisa Turpin, Morag MacDougal, and Sue Li, and was probably friends with the other girls. When people ask if family members are always in the same house, Padma and Parvati are often given as an example that they are not.

Padma and the Yule Ball

In her fourth year, Padma no doubt shared the excitement of the other students about the Triwizard Tournament.

When Harry asked Parvati to be his date for the Yule Ball, she urged her sister to attend with Ron Weasley. Neither the girls nor the boys were particularly interested in one another, but everyone considered it necessary to have a date for the event.

Padma was not very impressed with her partner. He spent most of the evening sulking when he saw that Hermione Granger was attending with Viktor Krum. Padma, who was wearing turquoise dress robes in the book and pink robes in the film, asked him bluntly if they were going to dance. When he said no, she abandoned her date and danced with some of the boys from Beauxbatons.

Padma and Dumbledore’s Army

While Padma would have been delighted to be made a Ravenclaw Prefect in her fifth year, she was probably less than impressed when Dolores Umbridge arrived at Hogwarts as High Inquisitor and Defence Against the Dark Art professor.

When the teaching of Defence Against the Dark Arts was pretty much blocked by Umbridge, Padma, who was likely studious as a Ravenclaw, was more than happy to join Dumbledore’s Army, also known as the DA, to learn defensive magic from Harry Potter.

Padma also showed a rebellious streak during this year. With her sister Parvati she started to sabotage speakers that Professor Umbridge had placed around the castle.

Padma and the Second Wizarding War

When the Ministry finally acknowledged the return of Lord Voldemort, Padma and Parvati had to convince their parents not to pull them out of school. Their parents also insisted on bringing the girls home the day after Dumbledore died, and not letting them stay for the funeral ceremony.

Nevertheless, the sisters were forced to return to school the following year, despite the fact that it was under Death Eater control. The Ministry had mandated that all school-age wizards must arrive at Hogwarts. She would have suffered under the new regime in which Amycus and Alecto Carrow taught Death Eater ideals and tortured students who did not conform to their wishes.

Padma joined the reformed DA under Neville Longbottom, and by the time Harry, Ron, and Hermione arrived at the school to look for the Ravenclaw Diadem Horcrux, she was hiding out in the Room of Requirement.

Padma chose to stay and fight when Lord Voldemort descended on the school with his Death Eaters. She survived the war, but it is unclear what she went on to do in later life.

However, in an alternate reality created when Scorpius Malfoy and Albus Potter changed the past, Padma married Ron Weasley and they had a son named Panju together.

Padma Patil Personality Type & Traits

Padma Patil comes across as an intelligent but quiet girl who preferred to keep to herself. She was often happy to follow her sister’s lead. It was because of Parvati that she attended the Yule Ball with Ron, and she probably also followed her sister to the DA. Nevertheless, she showed that she was a steadfast character when she fought against the Death Eaters at Hogwarts.

Padma Patil Zodiac Sign & Birthday

We do not know Padma’s birthdate, but she must have been born in 1979/80. Her personality suggests that she and her twin sister Parvati may be Geminis. People born under this sign are intelligent and caring, but they can also be easily influenced by others. This could explain why Padma was happy to go along with her sister most of the time.
