Use the transparent preview of the furniture as a guide and rotate the furniture using the correct button for your preferred platform.
Once you have the desired rotation, place the furniture in any green highlighted areas around you!
All of the green squares indicate an area where the furniture can be placed in.
Anywhere taken up already or out of bounds will turn red when you try to place it there.
