Theodore Nott was a pure-blood student who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the same year as Harry Potter. Theodore Nott Early Life

Theodore was born into a pure-blood wizarding family in 1979/80 when Lord Voldemort was at his height. He was the son of a Death Eater, but his father seems to have escaped punishment following the fall of the Dark Lord. Like many others, he probably claimed that he was under the Imperius Curse.

Theodore was raised almost exclusively by his father after the death of his mother before he started school. He was probably brought up with pure-blood supremacy ideas and an interest in the dark arts.

When Theodore started at Hogwarts in 1991, he was swiftly sorted into Slytherin House, like his father. He was in the same year as Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, and Gregory Goyle. He was probably friendly with the three boys, who were also the sons of Death Eaters. But Theodore does not seem to have been part of their gang.

In his fifth year, when Hagrid introduced the students to Thestrals in their Care of Magical Creatures class, Theodore was one of only three students who could see them. This is because only those who have seen death can see the creatures. The other students were Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom.

Theodore Nott and the Return of the Death Eaters

When Lord Voldemort returned at the end of the Triwizard Tournament, Nott Snr was one of the Death Eaters that immediately returned to his master. This meant that Harry saw him in the graveyard. The following year, when he gave an interview to Rita Skeeter to be published in the Quibbler telling his story, he named Nott as a Death Eater among others. Theodore’s reaction to this is not noted. Nott Snr later participated in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, was officially exposed as a Death Eater, and sent to Azkaban.

While Theodore Nott came from a distinguished wizarding family, he was not courted by Professor Slughorn to be part of the Slug Club in his sixth year because his father had been exposed as a Death Eater. Neither was Draco Malfoy, for the same reason.

Theodore was probably one of the few students happy to return to Hogwarts in his seventh year since the school had fallen under Death Eater control. He was evaluated from the castle with the other Slytherin students when the Battle of Hogwarts began. It is unclear whether he joined the Death Eaters or kept a safe distance from the ensuing battle. The latter seems likely as he was not sent to Azkaban in the aftermath.

Theodore Nott Later Life

In later life, Nott developed an interest in Time-Turners. The Ministry’s collection of Time-Turners had been destroyed in 1996 during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. He is known to have made at least two Time-Turners for Lucius Malfoy. He also duelled with Harry Potter in 2020, when Harry was Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, due to his possession of an illegal Time-Turner.

Theodore Nott Personality Type & Traits

Unlike his classmates Draco Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle, Theodore Nott does not seem to have pranced around the school showing off his pure-blood nature or flirting with the dark arts, despite being part of a Death Eater family. He seems to have preferred to fly under the radar.

But Theodore must have been very intelligent to be able to create new Time-Turners. He even created a more advanced Time-Turner that allowed the user to stay in the past for an unlimited amount of time. His interest in time travel may stem from the death of his mother when he was young.

Theodore Nott Zodiac Sign & Birthday

We do not know Theodore’s birthdate, though he must have been born in 1979/80. His personality suggests that his zodiac sign may be Aquarius. People born under this sign tend to keep to themselves and not worry about what other people think, while also being smart and creative.
