Thorfinn Rowle was a dark wizard and Death Eater. He was probably a follower of Lord Voldemort during both Wizarding Wars, as Ron Weasley recognized him and Antonin Dolohov from wanted posters. This suggests that he went to Azkaban after the First Wizarding War and was one of the Death Eaters who broke out with Bellatrix Lestrange.

Rowle and the Battle of the Astronomy Tower

Rowle was among the Death Eaters who participated in the infiltration of Hogwarts orchestrated by Draco Malfoy in 1997. He never went up the Astronomy Tower and did not witness the death of Lord Voldemort. Instead, he stayed below fighting the members of the Order of the Phoenix that had been called to the school to help.

He seems to have been fairly careless with his spell casting.

Beyond them, Harry saw Tonks fighting an enormous blond wizard who was sending curses flying in all directions, so that they ricocheted off the walls around them, cracking stone, shattering the nearest window —

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

He accidentally killed his fellow Death Eater Gibbons with a Killing Curse that he was aiming at Remus Lupin.

While retreating, he tried to curse Hagrid, but the curses bounced off him due to his giant blood. Instead, Rowle set Hagrid’s hut on fire, forcing him to abandon the fight as he entered his hut to save his dog Fang.

Rowle and the Tottenham Court Road Cafe

When Death Eaters took over the Ministry of Magic and descended on the wedding of Fleur Delacour and Bill Weasley, Rowle was one of the Death Eaters that tracked Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley to a café on Tottenham Court Road. They were able to find them because a taboo had been put on Voldemort’s name and Harry used it.

A fight ensued in the café, but the three young wizards managed to incapacitate Rowle and Antonin Dolohov. Hermione then used a memory charm on both men to confuse them about what had happened.

This resulted in Lord Voldemort ordering Draco Malfoy to torture Rowle with the Cruciatus Curse for his failure. This does not seem to be the first time Lord Voldemort considered Rowle to have failed.

More, Rowle, or shall we end it and feed you to Nagini? Lord Voldemort is not sure that he will forgive this time… You called me back for this, to tell me that Harry Potter has escaped again? Draco, give Rowle another taste of our displeasure… Do it, or feel my wrath yourself!

Lord Voldemort, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Other Death Eaters became warier about signaling Lord Voldemort after this episode.

Harry Potter would see Rowle again when he entered the Forbidden Forest to hand himself over to Lord Voldemort during the Battle of Hogwarts. He was dabbing a bloody lip and waiting with the other Death Eaters. When Hagrid cried out on seeing Harry, Rowle cast a non-verbal Silencing Charm to keep the part-giant quiet.

It is unknown if Rowle survived the Battle of Hogwarts, but if he did, he would have been sent to Azkaban.

Thorfinn Rowle Personality Type & Traits

Like most Death Eaters, Rowle was a pure-blood wizard interested in wizarding supremacy and the dark arts. But Rowle also seems to have been quite careless, for example accidentally killing a fellow Death Eater during a skirmish. This may suggest that he enjoyed hurting other people, and did not really care about the consequences.

Thorfinn Rowle Zodiac Sign & Birthday

We do not know when Rowle was born, but it must have been before 1960 if he was involved in the First Wizarding War. His personality suggests that his zodiac sign may be Aries. People born under this sign are attracted to power and challenge. They also tend to put themselves first and struggle to see the impact of their actions on others.
