Fans have eagerly been waiting for the second season of Vinland Saga ever since the end of the first one back on 29th December 2019.
Ever since the first season made its appearance on Netflix in July of 2022, the show exploded in popularity, especially in the United States.
A lot has changed since then, primarily, the producers of the anime. MAPPA overtook Wit studios as the producer.
In the trailer released in June of 2022, the creators of the anime announced that the show would be returning for a second season in January of 2023 in Japan.
Even though it took quite a while for MAPPA to announce the second season, fans all over the world welcomed the news.

Unfortunately for the fans outside of Japan, they will probably have to wait a bit for the new episodes to come out as Netflix does not have a history of simulcasting anime, at least not outside of Asia.
If we are going by what has happened in the past, we can expect the episodes with subtitles in different languages to be out within a few weeks of the initial release.
The dubs, however, usually take a bit longer. Anywhere from a few weeks to a few months would be a good estimate.
Vinland Saga Season 2 Plot Speculation
Judging by the trailer, we can assume that a good portion of the second season of the anime will revolve around Thorrfin’s past and his hopes and goals for the future.
Season 1 ended with Thorrfin contemplating about his life and introspecting about the next chapter of his life.

The director, Shuhei Yabuta gave us a glimpse of what to expect from the next season as he said:
“Showy events will decrease and the pace of the story will slow down. However, the emotions of the characters move more greatly and fiery. I promise that there is a unique experience like no other. I hope you all enjoy season 2!”

Vinland Saga Season 2 Cast
The director and the animation producer for the series have remained the same. Other voice cast members that have not changed include Hiroki Yasumoto as Bjorn, Akio Ōtsuka as Thorkell, and Yūto Uemura as Thorrfin.
Some of the newer members joining this season include Fujimori Komatsu as Snake, Yuu Hayashi as Olmar, and Hideaki Tezuka as Ketil.
The primary change for the second season of Vinland Saga has been MAPPA taking over Wit Studios as the producer of the anime.
Where Will Vinland Saga Season 2 Be Available To Watch
Vinland Saga season 2 will available to watch on Netflix and Crunchyroll for viewers outside Japan. Both these sites will share streaming rights in the United States.
The official Twitter mentions that the show is to be streamed sequentially meaning each episode will come out on a new week.

At this point, however, it is still unclear whether Netflix will simulcast the anime as it does not have a history of doing so.
Based on past experiences, Netflix users can expect delays of anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for the new episodes.
How Many Episodes Will Vinland Saga Season 2 Have
Vinland Saga season 2 is expected to have 24 episodes, exactly like the first season. The animation producer said, “I felt like I was working on all 48 episodes”. Since there were 24 episodes in the first season, it’s almost certain that there will be 24 in the second season.
The Twin Engine YouTube channel released a video with Hiroya Hasegama, the animation producer for the anime. From 8:35 to 9:15, he talks about the episodes.
He mentioned, “For that reason, with the help of many people, we were able to do everything right up until the farm story. In that sense I felt like I was working on all 48 episodes of the Vinland Saga, I hope everyone is looking forward to it.”

How Successful Was Vinland Saga Season 1
Many people consider it to be one of the best animes of 2019. The show has an IMDb rating of 8.8 with over 38,000 reviews.
The finale of the first season, the 24th episode, is very highly rated on IMDB with an astounding 9.9 rating with almost 9,000 reviews.
The fact that fans all over the world are patiently waiting for the second season is testament enough to just how successful the anime is even outside of Japan and especially in the United States and the UK.
A reviewer in 2019 mentioned “This series is only 8 episodes in and already it’s got me desperately waiting for the next episode. The character development is absolutely subliminal and the story is the most captivating I’ve watched in years. I would recommend this to people who don’t even like anime, and if you do I would DEFINITELY recommend it!”
Another reviewer called it an “Upcoming classic”.
