LEGO city is one of the most popular LEGO lines there is. It allows both kids and adults to create all kinds of scenes that depict the hustle and bustle of daily life in the city!
So it was only natural that LEGO created another City calendar!
This is set number 60352, and as with many of the other LEGO calendars, the LEGO City one was released on September 1st.
It retails for $34.99 / £21.99 and contains 287 pieces hidden behind 24 separate doors.
If we’re going to crunch those numbers, that’s around 12 cents / 7p per brick. That’s just shy of 12 bricks per door, making it around $1.45 / £0.91s-worth of LEGO behind each door!

Packaging
The front of the packaging features images of several of the Minifigures and micro builds included in this particular set. It features the usual branding as well as the logo of the franchise.
There’s a definite festive and wintery theme on the outside of the front of the box. There’s lots of snow and twinkling lights, which really adds to the yuletide atmosphere.
The top, bottom, and sides contain the usual logos and legal bits and pieces you expect to see with any LEGO set.
There are 5 Minifigures printed on the top of the box with their names beneath them, just in case you weren’t sure what the characters were called.
The 1:1 Minifigure image that is shown on the top of the box is Santa. This gives those that are unsure about sizes a sense of scale when it comes to the LEGO City Minifigures.
Turning the set around, we are greeted by the back side of the box.

This side of the box also shows off several different LEGO Minifigures and Micro builds that can be found within this set.
We also like that on Santa’s list are three other LEGO City sets that you can collect (the 60320 Fire Station, the 60339 Double Loop Stunt Arena, and the 60350 Lunar Research Base).
Flipping the back panel down, we are greeted to the sight of the 24 doors that are part of a winter’s night mural, and behind which are all the LEGO Minifigures and micro builds.
So with all that info out of the way, let’s dive in and find out what the LEGO City calendar contains, starting with day 1 and going all the way through to day 24!
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Day 1 – Airplane

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 16
Spare pieces: 3
Behind the door for day 1 is a delicate yet cool looking Airplane, constructed primarily of blue and black bricks.
What type of airplane it actually is is a bit of a mystery, but that doesn’t really matter because it’s a simple yet good-looking build.
It’s not the most stable micro build ever, with the black, smooth brick that represents the wing is only affixed with a single stud, making it a little flimsy and easy to knock off if you’re not careful.
Still, the rest of the build is sturdy, and we really like the sloped translucent blue piece that they use as the cockpit window.
Overall, this isn’t the greatest start to a LEGO Advent calendar ever (we would have probably preferred a Minifigure), but with that being said, it’s still a pleasing little build.
Day 2 – Billy and his letter

Type of build: Minifigure
Total pieces: 7
Spare pieces: 1
Day 2’s door conceals the very first Minifigure of this LEGO Advent calendar, Billy! He comes complete with a letter (presumably containing his Christmas list that he’s mailing to Santa!)
Billy has a shorter leg piece and therefore is a smaller Minifigure. His outfit isn’t particularly Christmassy but still looks nice enough.
His dark blue torso has a puffer jacket print on both the front and the back, and it compliments the white arms and light blue undershirt.
He has a head that features single-side printing, and instead of a hair piece, we get a red cap. There are no printed details, but there are a few details molded into it.
We love the little helicopter on his hat. It doesn’t spin freely, but it still looks fun and gives him a little more personality and character.
The letter accessory is white and features a little bit of printing, including a red stamp affixed to the middle. It fits nicely into Billy’s hand.
Overall, Billy is a fun Minifigure, and while he could look a little more Festive, he is a fun addition to any LEGO City scene.
Day 3 – Mailbox and flower bed

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 10
Spare pieces: 1
Day 3 sees you finding a mailbox and flower bed. The red and white coloring is very festive, and the green leaves of the flower really ‘pops’ against the other colors.
The front of the mailbox has a rectangular-shaped hole which, of course, represents where you’re supposed to deposit letters. There is also a hole on the back of the mailbox too.
As this is a mailbox, the holes do actually fit the letter that came with the Billy Minifigure from day 2!

When you want to remove the letters, the front red door has a hinge at the bottom and can be easily pulled forward to remove the contents of the mailbox.
Overall, the mailbox and flower bed look wonderful, and we love how it can interact with the Billy Minifigure.
Day 4 – Piano and a cat

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 18
Spare pieces: 2
What we get behind the door of day 4 is a piano and a cat! And we’re not going to lie, it’s a real nice looking micro build.
LEGO uses primarily brown pieces to recreate the wood of the piano, which really helps the candles and keyboard stand out more.
The actual keyboard of the piano features nicely detailed printing on it. There are 13 notes – C to C, for any musicians out there. That’s an entire octave!
There are two candles on either side of the instrument, and we love the two little flames that attach to the top of them. The translucent orange works really well.
One of the main draws of this micro build though is the small cat. It’s always great when we get little LEGO animals, and this little dark gray feline is a fine addition.
Overall, the piano and a cat micro build is a smart and eye-catching set. It would have been nice for there to have been a little stool included too, but that’s just a nitpick.
Day 5 – Train and carriage

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 22
Spare pieces: 3
Trains are always a popular Christmas gift, so behind day 5’s door is a train and carriage micro build set.
The green, black, and white little vehicle might only measure several inches in length, but the details are actually quite spectacular.
Well, we say details, the set itself isn’t very detailed, but the tiny wheels and ridged roof give it a sense of scale that you don’t really get with many other micro builds.
The train and cartridge are linked by a clip that twists and hinges, meaning that the cartridge can be positioned however you want. It’s a simple little thing, but it works well.
Overall, this might be a tiny LEGO build, but it’s surprisingly fun and has a sense of scale that other micro builds don’t.
Day 6 – Tippy the cookie stall owner and his cookie

Type of build: Minifigure
Total pieces: 8
Spare pieces: 2
On day 6 we get another Minifigure, this time it’s Tippy the cookie stall owner.
He looks particularly eye-catching in his dark red uniform, with some great golden highlights printed onto the front and back of the torso pieces.
Tippy has a headpiece with single-sided printing and sideburns printed on either side of his dashing smile.
He has a maroon hat that cuts off the sideburns and gives the illusion of him having a full head of hair.
He comes with a cookie that sits neatly on top of his head, really capping off his look. Pun intended!
Accessories wise he comes with a single cookie. The small stud features white printing on top with purple and turquoise sprinkles. It’s tiny, but it works and fits nicely into and on top of his hand.
Overall, Tippy the cookie stall owner, and his cookie are a nice addition to the set.
We love the coloring of his outfit, and he’s a valuable part of the Christmas scene that we are slowly building.
Day 7 – Cookie stall

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 19
Spare pieces: 1
Behind day 7’s door is a wintery-looking cookie stall, complete with three copies displayed on a red plate.
The brown bricks represent the wooden table, while the blue and white tube pieces hold up the arch of the stall, containing a cool translucent blue brick, giving the whole stall an icy feel.
The tree cookies are on beige-colored stud bricks and have white icing printed onto them with purple and turquoise sprinkles.
This is clearly the cookie stall owned by Mr Tippy from day 6. He fits nicely behind his stall and can peer through, ready to serve his customers.

Overall, the cookie stall is a nice micro build and provides a big accessory for Mr Tippy. It is festively colored and will help you fill out your winter market.
Day 8 – Cake table

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 21
Spare pieces: 4
Next up we have day 8, and behind this door is another table of food, this time the cake table. It further helps expand the festive market.
This table is a bright blue, and on top of it sits a large cake made up of 6 circular pieces, topped with a red flower-shaped brick.
Underneath the cake is a square plate that serves as the board that the cake is sitting on. Alongside that are a small yellow cup and a separate slice of cake.
Overall while there’s not too much to say about the cake table, it’s still a grand-looking micro build to pose your Minifigures around.
Day 9 – Bird and birdhouse

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 12
Spare pieces: 1
A bird and bird table is the micro build we get behind day 9’s door, and what a nice wintery little build it is!
The roof and base bricks are white, indicating that there has been some snowfall. The bare branch also indicates it’s a cold time of year.
As for the birdhouse, it is simple a 2×1 brick with a hole in the middle of it. There’s no way for the bird to fit in there, but it still works well and looks right.
The main draw is definitely the little bird, though. It perches delicately outside the house, looking like it’s stood on the branch from some angles.
The bird itself features little black paint applications for eyes as well as a yellow beak.
Overall, this thin little build sets a snowy tone, and we love the little white bird that is included.
Day 10 – Raze and her broom

Type of build: Minifigure
Total pieces: 7
Spare pieces: 1
Behind the door for day 10 is a minifigure! This time it’s Raze and her broom.
She has a head with printing on both sides, as well as an eye-catching torso piece featuring printing on both the front and the back.
There’s also a skull belt painted in a nice metallic silver.
She even has printing on her leg piece, with the green spotted pattern continuing down from her torso. A short, spiked blue hair piece tops the punk look off.
We have already got a similar Raze in the 60296 Wheelie Stunt Bike set, but instead of a dark gray spiked pouldron, we get a lime green scarf.
This seems like a much more fitting accessory for a Minifigure in an Advent calendar.
The accessory she comes with is a broom. This is a pretty standard accessory that can be found in countless other sets.
Overall, Raze is a really nice Minifigure. She has bright colors that help her stand out from many other Minifigures, and she has a unique look with a Christmassy touch.
Day 11 – Street cleaning vehicle

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 15
Spare pieces: 0
Day 11’s micro build is a small and compact street cleaning vehicle. This little beast can be ridden by a single Minifigure and has a nice Arctic-conditions kind of look to it.
Color-wise it is along the same lines as Raze from day 10. The lime greens, pinks, and blues really match her outfit.
It has a steering wheel at the front, so you can make your Minifigures drive the snow vehicle. It also has a clip at the back that allows you to attach Raze’s broom to it as she’s driving.
The two big wheels at the back help it to roll smoothly along, with the two circular cleaning brushes at the front offering very little resistance.
Overall, it’s always great to get a little vehicle, especially when its coloring so closely matches a Minifigure.
Day 12 – Snowman and bag of ice skates

Type of build: Minifigure
Total pieces: 9
Spare pieces: 1
Day 12 sees us get a snowman and bag of ice skates micro build.
This one doesn’t have the most interesting or inspiring looks ever, but it does have some fun accessories that are compatible with Minifigures.
Let’s start off with the snowman, though. It is pretty plain and lacks any detailing. It would have been nice to see an extra snowman head piece for on top.
There is a translucent blue brick which perhaps represents some ice. This would make sense, considering that the other little accessories are a pair of skates that can be kept in the bag.
The skates really are small, but they can be clipped to the feet of a Minifigure to allow them to go and have fun on the ice.

Overall, while this set might not be the most exciting, it helps build out the winter wonderland kind of look. The ice skates are great, though, and it helps mix up the look of your Minifigures.
Day 13 – Chicken and its egg

Type of build: Minifigure
Total pieces: 15
Spare pieces: 0
What we get behind the door of day 13 is a chicken and its egg! And with its green and golden coloring, it certainly seems appropriate!
The egg is positioned in the center of the build, with green busy-like bricks surrounding it.
There are 4 stars spaced at equal distances around the outside of the circle.
Now that we come to think about it, it looks kind of like a wreath with an egg at the center of it!
What we love most though is the chicken, which features little black eyes that have been painted on, as well as red highlights to give it a little more character.
Overall, this is definitely not the most Christmassy micro build ever. But with that being said, we do kind of like it and love the addition of the little chicken.
Day 14 – Maddy and her lantern

Type of build: Minifigure
Total pieces: 8
Spare pieces: 1
Behind the door of day 14 is the Maddy Minifigure, complete with a golden lantern.
She is wearing a bright orange cardigan with a striped green top underneath. There is also some printing on the back of the torso piece.
The dark blue leg piece is a short one and features no printing.
Maddy has a double-sided head with two different happy faces. Her pigtail hair piece covers up the alternate face when not in use.
This is the same Maddy Minifigure that you can get your hands on in the 60329 School Day LEGO set. The only difference is this one doesn’t come with a backpack.
What she does come with is a lantern. It’s really nicely designed, and we think the addition of the translucent yellow brick inside is a nice touch that makes it look like it’s glowing.
Overall, Maddy and her lantern are a great addition to the set. It’s amazing how the simple addition of a lantern can add a wintry feel to an otherwise un-wintry Minifigure!
Day 15 – Winter scarecrow

Type of build: Minifigure
Total pieces: 14
Spare pieces: 2
Next up, on day 15, is the winter scarecrow. This is a relatively slim and compact micro build that is surprisingly effective, considering its simplicity.
A central red LEGO block holds it all together, allowing you to attach the arms and head, as well as the pole that goes down to the snowy white ground.
It may be rudimentary, but it does look like the scarecrow is wearing clothes.
This little micro build also comes with the same lime green scarf that can be found with the Raze Minifigure on day 10.
The arms are static and immovable, and they look appropriately brown and twig-like – just like a scarecrow should!
Overall the winter scarecrow looks fun and has a cool hat and scarf piece to use on other Minifigures, should you want to.
Day 16 – Large garden checkers board

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 24
Spare pieces: 3
We get another micro build behind day 16’s door, and on this occasion, it’s a large garden checkers board.
Built entirely on a small 4 x 4 LEGO base, the black and white board sits next to a garden fence panel.
The checkers board comes with 5 red opaque studs and 5 green translucent studs.
In theory, you should be able to play a game on the board, though at only 3 squares by 3 squares it wouldn’t be much of a game.
Overall, this neat-looking set allows you to play a small game of your own. It’s an interesting micro build that offers something that nine of the other micro builds can! Christmassy? No. Fun? You bet!
Day 17 – Christmas tree

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 23
Spare pieces: 3
Awaiting behind day 17’s door is one of the most obvious but essential micro builds you could ask for in a LEGO City Advent calendar: a Christmas tree!
The four triangular green pieces are attached to a sturdy inner structure that is topped by a tiny golden statuette Minifigure that looks like an angel.
On top of the green pieces sit slightly shorter white ones that give the impression of the lower portions of the branches being covered in snow.
Around the outside are several translucent red and yellow studs that look like baubles or twinkling festive lights. It is most definitely an effective little build!
Overall, though, the Christmas tree works well in the context of the calendar, and it’s definitely a satisfying micro build to put together.
Day 18 – Rocking horse and rocket

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 21
Spare pieces: 3
The door to day 18 reveals a rocking horse and rocket micro build, and it’s nice to see these traditional children’s toys getting a little representation!
The rocking horse is made from various shades of beige, designed to look like wood. It has a curved piece on the bottom, meaning it can actually rock backward and forwards.
Similarly, the rocket looks like an old-school retro toy and even features a translucent orange rounded piece at the bottom which represents its blast effect.
It would have been nice if you were able to sit a Minifigure on the rocking horse, however, it is only 1 stud wide and therefore unable to accommodate anyone sitting on it.
Overall, this is a fun little double-packed micro build, and despite their inability to interact with Minifigures, we still find the rocking horse and rocket charming.
Day 19 – Mr Produce and his apple

Type of build: Minifigure
Total pieces: 5
Spare pieces: 0
The second to last Minifigure is living behind day 19’s door, and that is Mr Produce with his apple!
We love the printing on this particular Minifigure, with some great details featured on both the front and back of his torso and his leg pieces.
The torso has the top portion of a suit printed onto it, and it is covered up by his apron. This apron printing runs down his body and continues onto his legs, giving it a full-length look.
The only other place you can find this particular Minifigure is in the 60347 Grocery Story LEGO set. It’s nice that we get the opportunity to pick him up once again.
He also comes complete with an apple. This is a pretty standard accessory that comes in a lot of sets, but it’s very on-brand for someone with a name like Mr Produce.
Overall, Mr Produce is a cool little Minifigure, and shopkeepers are always a welcome addition to round out any LEGO City scene – whether it’s Christmas or otherwise!
Day 20 – Campfire and marshmallows on sticks

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 16
Spare pieces: 2
The door for day 20 conceals a campfire and marshmallows on sticks micro build!
Consisting of a cross of ‘logs’, there is a central translucent flame piece that works well as the fire. It is held in place by a warm red piece at the centre of the LEGO campfire.
On the outside of the build are two marshmallows on the end of sticks. These can be held by Minifigures and toasted over the flame.

It would have been a fun addition if half of the marshmallow brick featured some charred kind of burnt printing on their undersides so it looked like they were cooking, but that’s just a nitpick.
Day 21 – Festive streetlamp

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 10
Spare pieces: 2
Day 21 contains a festive streetlamp! With its snowy base and flowery red flower at the top, it’s certainly a pretty build.
Built primarily of light gray bricks, it had the possibility of looking pretty bland and boring. Luckily though, there are pops of color that add something special to the micro build.
As we mentioned, the flower near the hop is the primary splash of color, but we do also really like the translucent yellow brick that represents the light from the streetlight itself.
Overall, this is a thin and very straightforward build, but it is undeniably festive, and for that reason, we like it!
Day 22 – Pony and hay bale gift

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 6
Spare pieces: 1
Behind the door of day 22 is another animal, this time it’s a pony and hay bale gift.
The horse is molded out of a single piece of plastic, though it does look good. The printed eye is lice and large, and the yellow mane running down its back adds a nice contrast color to the white.
Wit would have been cool for LEGO to have included a horse with maybe moveable legs or a moveable neck, but for what it is, this pony is fine.
On the back of the horse is a single stud. This does have a purpose (see day 23’s micro build), but what you can’t do is sit a Minifigure on its back.
The pony comes with a small beige/yellow hay bail gift with a golden star gift bow sitting on top of it.
Overall, it’s a fine addition to the Advent calendar, and we always appreciate it when we get different animals thrown into the mix.
Day 23 – Sleigh

Type of build: Micro build
Total pieces: 14
Spare pieces: 1
On day 23 we get a sleigh! This primarily red micro build has the capabilities to hold a gift as well as seat a single Minifigure.
The smooth railings on the underside allow it to glide smoothly along, and the festive green leaves add a pop of color to the rear of the vehicle.
The yellow/golden piece on the front of the sleigh allows you to clip it to a couple of different sets. Choose from either day 11’s street cleaning vehicle, or the pony from day 22.

Overall, the sleigh is a fun little modular micro build that allows you to connect it to a couple of other sets. The build itself is smart and neat and looks very appropriate for an Advent calendar.
Day 24 – Santa Claus and his carrot

Type of build: Minifigure
Total pieces: 9
Spare pieces: 2
Behind the final door, on day 24, we have the big guy himself, Santa Claus and his carrot! Which only seems appropriate for the door that you’re going to be opening on Christmas Eve!
We’ll start off by talking about the accessory: the carrot! It’s a simple carrot that can be found in many other LEGO sets, and while it might not be the most inspired Santa accessory ever, it still looks good.
In his iconic red and white outfit, he looks fantastic, and the design is simple yet Christmassy.
His bright red leg piece has no printing on it, but his torso piece has printing on the front and the back. There is a black belt with a golden buckle, as well as a fluffy white hem and collar.
The hat piece features no printing, but it still fits in nicely with the rest of the outfit, with the fluffy white brim bringing everything nicely together.
The head piece does actually have a beard printed onto it, and you can have the figure sans the beard piece, however, the beard piece is truly magnificent.
Simple sandwich it between the torso and head pieces, and you have one of the most iconic and well-loved characters in the world! Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!

Final thoughts
Having gone through each and every Minifigure and micro build of the LEGO City Advent calendar, photographing and taking notes on them as we go, we have a few final thoughts.
This set is a lot more fun and exciting than we initially thought. Here at Fantasy Topics, we’re huge fans of the bigger IPs such as Star Wars, Marvel, and Harry Potter, so we went into this calendar with low hopes.
As it turns out, though, this set blew us away! Minifigure wise there’s a nice selection of men, women, and children, each with their own special look and part to play.
We especially loved Tippy the cookie stall owner. His outfit and dashing looks really set him apart from the other Minifigures, and for us, that’s what made him stand out the most.
That’s not to say that the other Minifigures weren’t fantastic – they truly were! But if we had to choose just one, Tippy takes the cake. Or rather, the cookie.

The micro builds were also fantastic. We love it when the micro builds are in the same scale as the Minifigures. It offers a lot more play options. Luckily, every single micro build ticked that box.
This is in stark contrast to the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Advent calendar, where a large portion of the micro builds were not scaled for Minifigure play.
There are a few downsides to the LEGO City Advent calendar, though. Although a lot of the micro builds were blatantly Christmas-themed, the Minifigures left a lot to be desired, outfit-wise.
It would have been nice to see a few more Christmas outfits or garish knitted sweaters or Christmas cracker accessories etc.
Still, overall, the LEGO City Advent calendar far surpassed our initial expectations.
It’s worth picking it up whether you want it specifically for the Minifigures and micro builds included or whether you just want to expand your LEGO City collection.
